Privacy Policy
Last updated: 15 October 2026
This policy explains what personal data IM Total Construction collects through this website and when you contact us, why we collect it, how long we keep it and what rights you have.
Who we are
IM Total Construction, Spenser Avenue, Exeter EX2 6BW. We are the controller of the personal data described in this policy.
To ask about your data, email totalconstructionim@gmail.com or call 07548 729670.
What we collect and why
When you send an enquiry
- What: your name, phone number, email address, postcode, the service you are interested in, your message and the best time to call you back, if you ask for a call.
- Why: to reply to you and, if you ask, to visit, measure up and give you a quote.
- Legal basis: steps you have asked us to take before entering into a contract, and our legitimate interest in replying to enquiries.
- How long: enquiries are stored on our website for 12 months and then deleted automatically. If no work follows, we also delete the enquiry from our email within the same period.
To stop spam, the form briefly uses a scrambled version of your IP address (for up to an hour) to limit how many messages can be sent. It is not stored with your enquiry.
When you call or email us
We keep your contact details and our conversation for the same reasons and for the same period as enquiries sent through the website.
When you become a customer
- What: your contact details, the address where we do the work, the details of the job, quotes, invoices and payments.
- Why: to carry out the work, deal with any questions or guarantees afterwards, and keep proper accounts.
- Legal basis: performing our contract with you, and our legal obligation to keep accounting records.
- How long: for as long as the law requires us to keep business records — usually six years after the end of the financial year the work relates to.
We only show photos of your property on this website with your permission. We never publish your house number or street: projects are described by town or area only.
When you visit this website
- Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs — IP address, browser type, pages requested and the time — to keep the website secure and working. This is our legitimate interest. The logs are deleted automatically after a short period.
- Maps on this website only load when you press “Show map”. The map on our contact page is provided by Google: loading it sends your IP address to Google, and Google may set cookies. The maps of our projects use OpenStreetMap: loading them sends your IP address to their map server. No cookies are set.
More about cookies: Cookie Policy.
We do not use automated decision-making or profiling, and we never sell personal data.
Who we share it with
Only with providers that help us run our business, and only as much as they need. They act on our instructions:
- Milk First Studio Ltd — builds, hosts and looks after our website, and delivers messages from the enquiry form to us (UK).
- Namecheap, Inc. — provides the servers our website runs on and that deliver messages from the enquiry form (data stored in a UK data centre).
We may also share personal data with our accountant or professional advisers, and with HMRC, courts or other authorities where the law requires it.
International transfers
Most of the data we hold is stored in the UK. Some providers are based in the USA. Where personal data goes outside the UK, it is protected as UK law requires — for example, under the UK–US data bridge for certified companies, or under the International Data Transfer Agreement.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- ask for a copy of your personal data;
- ask us to correct it;
- ask us to delete it;
- ask us to limit how we use it, or object to how we use it;
- ask for the data you gave us in a format you can take elsewhere;
- withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on it.
Some rights depend on the circumstances: for example, we must keep accounting records even if you ask us to delete them. To make a request, email totalconstructionim@gmail.com or call 07548 729670. We will reply within one month. There is usually no charge.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office: ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy when our website or the law changes. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
